fd2s to Develop Wayfinding Program for Downtown El Paso
As part of a major downtown revitalization effort that began in 2006, the City of El Paso has selected fd2s to develop a new downtown wayfinding and street amenities plan. The plan, which will expand on the preliminary wayfinding recommendations contained in the city’s 2015 Downtown Plan and related Phase II Study, will facilitate improved pedestrian wayfinding and help create an enhanced sense of place in the downtown district.
While addressing the needs of the entire downtown area, the plan will be developed for a phased implementation, with the initial rollout focused on two key pedestrian corridors near the city’s Civic Center.
fd2s has extensive experience in the development of wayfinding programs for municipalities and large campus environments, including projects for the Texas cities of Austin, Huntsville, and Marshall. The firm’s previous work in El Paso includes the development of a wayfinding program for El Paso International Airport, and the creation of new signage for the city’s Magoffin Home State Historic Site as part of a project to develop a standardized wayfinding and identification signage program for 18 sites managed by the Texas Historical Commission.
