East 7th Street Corridor

Defining a key urban corridor with a mix of public art and wayfinding information.

fd2s served as the wayfinding and graphics consultant on the multidisciplinary team responsible for transforming Austin’s long-neglected East 7th Street corridor into an attractive gateway into Austin from the city’s airport. Our involvement with the project included the development of a graphic identity for the corridor, the design and documentation of wayfinding signage and placemaking elements, and the creation of a distinctive district map. We also provided bidding and contract administration services for all wayfinding and placemaking elements.

A key component of the system is a series of large “obeliscos” that convey pedestrian wayfinding information, establish a sense-of-place for the district, and incorporate public art.
