Wayfinding master plan and public-private sector collaboration pave the way for new medical district

Beginning in 2012, fd2s created a wayfinding master plan for the Oklahoma Health Center, which called for the creation of a medical district within Oklahoma City. This was a genuinely collaborative project, with OHC and fd2s working hand-in-hand to implement the signage program, including getting buy-in and help from the Hospital Authority and Trust, receiving approval from the city and Oklahoma Department of Transportation, and even involved a state representative. With fd2sā€™ guidance, OHC has taken ownership of their signage program and has implemented interior, exterior, print and website elements for a truly integrated wayfinding approach. Program components include exterior signage program for street numbered entries and highway-style signage along Lincoln Blvd. that defines the district, setting a precedent for custom over-the-road signage along a state highway.

  • “fd2s has been a vital part of the success of our wayfinding system. Their expertise has been a constant guide as we have navigated through stages of our master plan into implementation, especially in areas of political concerns. fd2s is extremely qualified for the development and implementation of major wayfinding system, including the graphic vocabulary that extends to our printed and virtual assets.”
