Working closely with the Food Bank’s leadership team, fd2s developed a system of branding, wayfinding, and gift recognition elements for this growing campus west of San Antonio. With 500 partner agencies and an outreach area of 16 counties, the organization provides 50 million pounds of food annually to Texans at risk of going hungry. This vast operation relies on a network of local businesses, churches, foundations, corporations, civic groups, and individuals to support this mission.
As the campus grows, the need for better orientation increases. To this end, fd2s has developed a wayfinding scheme that retrofits existing and outdated sign structures, where possible, and leverages as-found materials (for example, wood pallets) to minimize costs while subtly reinforcing the Food Bank’s commitment to focusing resources on the needs of its clients.
Interior signage and graphics utilize reinforced cardboard boxes, banner material, and simple vinyl on glass. Large-scale quotes in the warehouse inspire staff and volunteers while animating otherwise vacant wall spaces.
