fd2s is currently working with Community First! Village to address the growing navigation needs of the visitors and residents of this unique 27-acre community located east of Austin. Providing permanent, affordable housing and a sense of community for the disabled, chronically homeless in Central Texas, this non-profit mission will soon grow by 24 acres when an adjacent parcel is developed (made possible by a $2 million grant from the Downtown Austin Alliance). This expansion will add much-needed housing capacity and parking for residents, volunteers, visitors, and staff.
Our team is developing wayfinding solutions that the residents can fabricate largely by themselves, utilizing wood posts, forged metal (there’s a forge on the property), and stencil-painted graphics. We are also looking for opportunities to incorporate decorative elements (like painted tiles and metal scrollwork) that showcase the work of talented residents.
